First off, yum.  Jill, owner of Stay Calm Cupcake, sent me a package of vanilla cupcakes with french vanilla cupcakes and chocolate vanilla frosting to "test and tell".  There were four cupcakes, but I ate one before photographing them all.  I just couldn't help myself.

Who or what inspires you? 

I get inspiration from a lot of baking blogs. I also really enjoy tastespotting.com. It is a great place for people to share recipes and photos of their work. I often see a picture of a cupcake and create my own recipe to go with it. That’s what is so great about baking, you can take someone else’s creation and turn it into something entirely different and unique. Baking cupcakes allows me to be creative from start to finish. My favorite part of baking cupcakes is creating the perfect flavor combo and then decorating it with really fun frosting and sprinkles.

What do you enjoy most about owning your shop? 

I opened my shop not too long ago with the hopes of making some extra money and getting my product out there. I feel so lucky that it has grown, in such a short amount of time, into something so successful and fun. I love being able to ship my products to people all over the United States, knowing that they enjoy my cupcakes are even sending some as gifts! I hope to one day open my own bakery, until then I am thrilled with how well my Etsy shop is doing and can’t wait to start doing some holiday orders!!

Describe your products in three words: 

Delicious. Homemade. Creative

What is unique about your creations? 

I take pride in the work that I do, and am an admitted perfectionist. Nothing gets shipped unless it’s EXACTLY the way I envisioned it. It often takes me a little extra time, but it’s worth it. I don’t ship anything that I personally wouldn’t want to receive. My products are unique because my cupcakes kits are 100% customizable – this allows my customer to get exactly what they want. I also throw in little “extras” with each purchase. It’s always nice to get a surprise with your order.

Where else can we find you? (do you have a facebook page?  a blog?  a twitter?) 

Right now I don’t have a facebook page, but I do have a blog. "Stay Calm, Have A Cupcake" has tons of great recipes, pictures and cupcake contests! My twitter account is Jaybug87 – I often announce giveaways and new blog entries there.

What started the idea of writing a book?

I've always been passionate about living well; finding time for happiness, health and beauty in my life.  Prior to the book, I had been keeping a blog, Lifestyle Maven.

Who or what inspires you?

I'm completely inspired by craig (my fiance).  He challenges me to be better and always supports me in all I do.  Also, my family and friends are awesome.  They always have my back.  Other than that, I'm inspired by things I love,  both big and small; rainy days,  travel to far off lands,  holiday traditions,  falling leaves,  delicious cocktails, or  dinner with friends.

What do you enjoy most about being a writer/ designer?

Hmmm.... that's a tough one, because I'm inclined to say I enjoy pretty much everything. But most of all, I love being able to be completely true to myself and share (and preserve) my thoughts, ideas, creations, memories, and what-have-you.  I also love connecting with readers.  It feels so good when someone gives you positive feedback about something you've created.  That can just make my day!

What is unique about your creations?
The t-shirt necklace is a cool project i found in whole living magazine.  I'm all about scarves & pashminas; so the t-shirt necklace/scarf hybrid really appealed to me.  My sis and I started crafting them and, needless to say, many of our family members and friends are now enjoying their recycled t-shirt accessories.

Please note that advertising takes time and you cannot expect instant success in just a couple months. It takes time for branding and creating an image. There are many factors effecting advertising, such as the picture ad. If the ad is not appealing to my readers, you won't receive a very high click-through rate. I highly suggest changing your picture ad every couple of months or so to keep things new and interesting for my readers. If purchasing advertising space is not enough, please look into the following other options that may aid you in your marketing endeavors.

GIVEAWAYS

This is usually the best way to market your business and get more traffic. I prefer one week long giveaways but in some cases can accommodate up to two weeks. In the giveaway post I introduce your business in a short paragraph or two that you can supply to me or that I will obtain from your website. The text will be accompanied with at least one picture that will be provided by the sponsor. All mentions of the sponsor will be directly linked to the sponsor's website.


The methods of entry are categorized as one mandatory entry and bonus entries. The mandatory entry usually directs readers to your website and requires them to explore it and report back on my blog (i.e. picking another product that they like). The bonus entries are focused on building a stronger social network through Blogger and Etsy for my blog and your business. If you would like your business' social network to be included in these bonus entries, please supply me with the associated links. Each entry is assigned a number in which random.org is used to select the winning number. I will contact the winner via email. They have 24 hours to respond to my email. Once they reply to my email, I will email you the winner's email address to settle shipment and/or exchange further contact information.


With each sponsored giveaway, these services are included:

• facebooking about the giveaway daily to my 735+ friends and followers
• tracking the entries
