You may take this quote many different ways.  Let me tell you how I interpret this. 

First off, I don't believe in being bored. Saying you are "bored" is saying that you are not in control of how you respond to your environment.  The fact is, we are all in control of how we react to our environment.  If you are bored, then be proactive about your situation.  Get creative, listen up, learn something new, or just be still. We live in a world of entertainment, distraction, and instant gratification.  I challenge us all to take a step back, be still, and be okay with it. 

So how does being bored make you a boring person?  My thoughts; if you can't entertain yourself, how are you going to entertain others? Being "bored" is not being at peace with your environment.  If you aren't at peace with your environment then change it, or learn to accept or adapt.  And that's my two cents for the day.

I feel this is a lesson that surfaced again in my life this weekend.  Regis and Virginie were wonderful example of people who are non-judgmental and who really get to know people for who they are.  I am LDS and I know there are some negative stereotypes around being LDS. However they were so open to learning about my beliefs and accepting who I am.  When you are firm in who you are you are able to listen to others and learn about different ideas and beliefs without feeling threatened.  When you are unstable with who you are you feel threatened and closed off to other's differences.  I hope we can all be more accepting to other's beliefs and our differences.  Dare I say that we celebrate them.

This picture was taken in my cousin's garden in Spokane, Washington this summer.  I am not sure who to give credit to for the words.  They aren't mine.  Though they sing of truth with the love I have in my life.  I hope it rings true for you, or that you will find deep and true love some day.

About the quote.  When you stand strong for your beliefs those who are weak in theirs may become offended.  On the contrary, be open-minded and let others feel strongly in their beliefs even if they are contrary to yours.  You show your stability in your own beliefs when you listen to others.

I work in the field of social work and I work with many young woman dealing with different issues in their lives.  It's interesting how many of them have a hard time being connected to what they really want. So many woman today are too concerned with pleasing everyone and reading other people's minds.  In return they loose focus on what they need, what's healthy.  They have a tough time making decisions, big or small.  They are disconnected from themselves.  It is good to be in-tune to other's needs, but don't loose connection with your own.  Don't sacrifice your needs, standards, boundaries to please others.  If you have a problem with this, try starting with making basic simple decisions everyday.  It might be hard and you will probably make mistakes but this will help you to be more decisive on the big choices too.
