Wednesday Wish-List: Arrowhead Jewelry
Arrowheads remind me of the hot summer days and backpacking in the hot desert land of Utah. I spend two summers as a wilderness instructor for a 12-step Wilderness Therapy Program. We would hike the desert land of Southern Utah and come across petroglyphs, dinosaur tracks, and other rare finds. Normally people wouldn't venture to these sites for they were in the back country and you had to travel far on foot to reach them. These memories I hold dear to my heart.

Fredericks & Mae
Fredericks and Mae make arrows, masks, kites, and wings. A random array of unnecessary items of enjoyment and wonder. I could see myself flying a kite while wearing wings and a mask and planning what to shoot my new arrows at. If only I could grow hair on my chest like this man in the last photograph. If only.

She & Him Concert
I had the pleasure of seeing She & Him tonight at Pioneer Park in Salt Lake City, Utah. They sound even better live. Zoey was so cute in (of course) a little plaid vintage dress jumping up and down while playing the tamberine. I adore Zoey's style, acting, and voice. M. Ward also sang on his lonesome. It was a treat. Did I mention it was for free? Because I meant to. It was for the Twilight Concert Series put on the Salt Lake City Arts Council. Thank you SLC!

Old Hippie Bus Pt. 2
This is the highlight of my trip to the Skeen family cabin. And it is every year. We hike not too far from the cabin to this random old hippie bus in the middle of the mountains. The cabin we stay at has no water or electricity. It really is in the middle of no where in the Rocky Mountains of Utah. We have to drive out miles and miles on dirt roads. How this random bus got out there, I will always wonder. It has remnants of a bed, a fridge, a sink, and other such things. Someone must have lived there at one point. I wonder what they were like. Crazy? Revolutionary? A hermit? A hippie? I really want to know the story behind bus number 14.

This past weekend we went up to my husband's family cabin. It was to celebrate my husband's 25th birthday! A quarter of a century. Neat. Every year we hike to an abandoned hippie bus in the middle of the mountains and take a couple pictures. Above I have shared one picture from each year we've gone up to the bus (and each year we've been together). In 2008, we were dating. In 2009 we had been married for about six months. Yesterday we took the last picture you see, we've been married for a year and eight months now. It will be two years in December. My how time flies.

Multi Pitch Trad Climbing
I did something I vowed never to do: trad climbing. It is different than bouldering and sport climbing which I have previously blogged about. Trad climbing stands for traditional climbing. This is when you place your own gear instead of clipping into previously placed bolts. It's scary to trust the gear.
This was also the first multi-pitch climb I have ever done. This is when you climb one pitch (which is about 50 meters) and set up a belay station and climb another pitch and another pitch. We did three pitches. It was about 350 feet. It was incredible! It was not a hard climb but it had a lot of fun problems and roofs.
It's so hard to explain! If you ever get the chance to do a multi-pitch climbing route, go for it. It feels so good when you reach the top.

Jack Johnson Concert: SLC, UT
Loved the Jack Johnson concert. I love him even more now that I have seen him live. You get a taste of their personality when an artist performs. He seems like a real down to earth guy.

Flea Market at Eastern Market

I love flea markets. Can I tell you that? Good. Because it's true. When I was visiting Washington DC I had the pleasure to visit the Eastern Market Flea Market. They are only open on Saturday and Sundays but on the weekdays they have a farmers market with fruits and veggies.
I bought a couple things from the market. I stopped by a few vintage booths (and yes there will be more in the shop this weekend, look out world!). I also stopped at this lovely wooden print letter booth. Oh how I love these little things to decorate with. I got a couple letters: a large "S" for my last name. And then a "c" and an "R" for the hubs and me. Then the letter "5", because it's a favorite number. Random, but that's me.

A Simple Wire Ring
Before I left for Washington DC my sister in-law and I took the time to make some wire rings. I truly adore the seashell one. Anyone want a tutorial? So sorry I have had trouble responding to comments. I will be back from DC on Wednesday and I hope to catch up this weekend! Thanks for all the support. DC has been a blast. There is so much to see and do!
In the middle photo: the large turquoise ring is from Hawaii when I was there for my honeymoon, the second is the seashell one I created, and the third is from Hilary Druxam Jewelry which I got with a gift certificate from a giveaway from Helena from A Diary of Lovely. I wear that ring every day.

Hot Air Balloon Salute

Yesterday I watched in amazement as over 25 hot air balloons danced in the sky.
In Provo, Utah every year there is a celebration called Freedom Days around the 4th of July. For three straight days about 25 hot-air balloons take off at about seven in the morning. You can go early to see them inflate. This was the first year I attended. It was magical. I ran around in awe with my little brother. I think I was acting more excited than he was. I am sure I embarrassed him. But aren't they lovely?
