Night Rock Climbing

Rock climbing in the dark certainly brings a different element of fear of the unknown into climbing.  Climbing is so symbolic; which is one why reason I love it.  It brings in issues of trusting yourself, your partner, and your surroundings.  It helps you discover how far you can push yourself.  It helps you get over your fears and gain confidence.  How you climb is very reflective of how you are doing emotionally in a lot of ways.  Adding in darkness gives climbing another level of trust.  Trust of the unknown. Trust that you can make it even though you might not be clear on how you'll do it.  You trust your feelings and instinct more than your eyes.  Which comes up a lot in life doesn't it?  I hope you learned something new about yourself this weekend.

So impressed that you climbed in the dark - yikes. Scared just thinking about it! No matter how much you trust there's no getting around the fact that you're climbing heights.

Wow! That is amazing! You go girl! I am rather curious to see how I would do. I am not one to trust easily. Your words paint a picture of what it's like to walk by Faith. Love it.

That's amazing! I don't know a lot about climbing, but I did hear a photographer speak about his experiences in photographing climbers once, and I was AMAZED at the skills that are involved. I am too terrified of falling to do it, but I'm super impressed by people who can.

You are one brave girl! I really enjoyed reading the similarities of night climbing with trust and life..Very insightful...

I'm really trying to stretch my ability to be flexible and adaptable (sometimes it's difficult, but not impossible)

Wow. All those life illustrations are so true...never thought of the parallel before! Did you have a good time on your camping trip? Your swap loot looks great! I just finished hosting my very fist one over at Windy Poplars. Sorry you missed out on it! Maybe the next one :-)

Great post! The pictures are really cool. I have done no actual rock climbing in the dark, but I have had to scramble around a rocky mountaineering base-camp in the dark, and that required just as much trust and instinct! New environments, without light, require all your other senses to take over.

You crazy girl! Maybe that's why I love ya! This reminds me of my bf and I's accidental rock climbing wedding experience where we almost died. It was so bonding :) xo
