A BIG Mile Marker

I do not drive anything fancy.  I drive a 1996 Nissan Maxima, Maroon: the exact color of the dress I am wearing today.  My car is named Lucy.  Lucy and I have been through a lot together.  Today marked a large mile marker, the 200,000 mile marker to be exact.  I caught it on camera above to remember the moment of delight when all six of the number flipped in unison (while driving but ignore that fact please).

Let's reflect back on what Lucy and I have shared together:
I have cried in that car.
I have kissed in that car.
Cross country road trips.
Singing at the tops of my lungs to my favorite playlists.
I have killed several deer while behind the wheel.
I have shared secrets.
Made friendships.
Given a ride to a (somewhat stinky) hobo (not recommended).
I have slept in the back seat overnight.
I have gotten 2 flat tires, but never broken down.

That doesn't even begin to explain the journeys we have shared together.  Thank you Lucy for what you have provided.  You may not be pretty, but you serve me well.

What a fun and creative post, Rachel, I love it!

I once marked that exact milage on our family car a few years ago and my dad and I watched all the numbers turn...so I know the excitement! :)

Thanks for sharing some of the times you and Lucy have had and I'm sure there will be many more!

Liesl :)

P.S. What something provides over looks is always a good way to go in life! :)

This sounds just like me and my first car - an old Mini. I took a pic of the odo ticking over as well (and I was driving as well!!). The only things I didn't do in my car was hit moose (none in Tasmania) and pick up a hobo :)

Aahh - A real love story. I remember my first car (many years ago) and all the adventures and firsts I went through. These days I drive a very unromantic truck, but it does the job. May you share many more journeys with Lucy.

i have a 97 Nissan ALTIMA and his name is BIG ASH.

because he's black, but graying.

and it sounds like Big A$$ (can't tell what that is, right? ha!). and that makes me laugh.

when can we meet up with our cars and eat a burger together or something? i'd like to share your sweet presence.

This is such a cute post! I've never really considered everything I've been through with my car, but it's funny to think about all of the memories made there and where it's taken me. I love this idea!

It brought to mind images of friendships, and I pictured a montage of scenes taken in your car.
I adore this post.

What a cute post! I have never driven any cars that long yet but I am sure it is more that a "car" that gets from point A to B, it is full of memory.

Eek! This is so sweet. My car has a name too. His name is Campbell. Because he's red. And he looks like the juiciest little tomato. We've had some fun times too ;)

Hope you're doing wonderful Love!
