Bouldering in Lake Tahoe, California

Bouldering: another form of rock climbing.  It is different than sport climbing which I did a post on {HERE} at the City of Rocks, Idaho.  Bouldering is when you only bring rock climbing shoes, chalk, and a crash pad.  There is no rope. For that reason, I hate it.  But my husband loves it (I am a lover of sport climbing).  So I go and climb weak climbs while my husband and his brother scare me in their attempts to make it to the top on much harder ones without falling.  If you do fall, that is what the crash pad is for. You never go too high, 15 feet at most.

The chalk is to dry your hands a bit more from the sweat you build up.  These are hard routes and when the sun is beating down on you, believe me, you sweat a little.  We were climbing on granite rock which, as you can tell, is rough and abrasive.  Hence the ripped-up fingers.

For some reason, I love being out there trying to conquer a large boulder in the middle of the woods (thought this does not mean I am good, which is the part I hate).  I realize some people don't understand it, but go out and try, you just might like it!  Here we are bouldering at "the pie shop" in Lake Tahoe, California.

I'm in awe and totally understand the allure. The ripped fingers wouldn't bother me, but I've got terrible fear of heights.

I'm impressed! I would be far too chicken to try this. My 'office' hands would cry at the mere thought :/ I hope you've invested in some good moisturiser for your poor fingers.
