Here lies a letter to my lovely sister. This explains what is going on for me right now and a bit of my travel experiences. Hope this isn't too personal for you!
Dear lovely sister,
I am sitting here in the dark because the power is out. The only light is from my computer and it’s going to run out of batteries in thirty minutes. It’s about 8 at night and Chase is teaching his last class for his internship so I am home alone with only the stench of my feet to keep me company. And it’s bad company at that. They should put a warning label on chacos: WARNING: CHACOS MAY CAUSE FEET TO SMELL LIKE A BABY’S DIAPER LEFT ON A HOT SUNNY BEACH. I wonder how many people would pay $100 bucks for these hippie shoes then.
Anyways. How’s life? I talked to mom last night on Skype and she informed me Steve* was being a gooberbutt (not her exact words but you know). What happened? What’s going to happen? I hope you can let that little birdie fly away. He needs to learn how to use his wings. I am sorry he has hurt you yet again. I am sure your strong feelings for him make this a stressful time. If I am off by saying that, good. You have seemed happy and confident lately and I hope that this occurrence doesn’t shatter that. You are so much more than that.
I have a headache. I miss home. I kinda freaked out earlier because we went shopping for food and everything I looked at just made me want to puke. I miss the comforts the States provide. I feel bad for Chase, he has to deal with me being stressed at times. I wish he knew how much chocolate really helps. It’s no lie how powerful that creamy delectable substance is. At our girls night may we please eat chocolate until we puke and then eat some more?
I am writing wayyyyyyy toooo muuuccchhhhh. I am having a hard time not having anyone to talk to in English besides Chase. I love talking to chase. But I need a girl to talk to. I need my sister to talk to. I miss understanding people and being understood when I speak. I am learning spanish but it's still hard.
We went to a 1,700 year old temple today. It was amazing. It was where they sacrificed warriors. They would have two warriors fight, the loosing one would be sacrificed in front of all the people on top of the temple. They would slit their throats and then drink the blood. Pretty gruesome stuff. Every time a king died they would kill all their priests and wives and servants and bury them with treasures in the current level of the temple and then completely close it off and build another level on top for the new king and priests. There are five levels. Since the levels were buried the original paint and carvings on the walls are still there and preserved very well. IT WAS AMAZING JESS! I wish you were here with me. It really is a neat experience. I am tired of Trujillo but I can’t wait to travel further into Peru and then go to Argentina for two weeks.
I have talked about myself for far too long. I am terribly sorry for this absurdly long email. I love your guts. And remember to spill them to me in an email to me when you get the chance.
I love you I love you I love you.

I loved reading this letter, thank you for giving us even more of a peak into your life! I imagine once I am in China for while I am also going to seriously miss the US and just the comforts of home. Luckily for me I speak Chinese, but I am sure I will miss the sound of English. After Argentina, will you be heading back to the US?

i love the first picture, and your blog is great again!=)
Hi Love!! I just found your blog through Shari at Little Blue Deer. I am so glad I did! Your blog is Lovely. I seriously cannot believe how brave you are to push yourself so far out of your comfort zone... I'm not sure I would have the strength to do what you've done! I'm actually Peruvian. Lima born. Texas bred. It sounds like you've already witnessed some of the magic and beauty my country has to offer. Have you gone to Machu Picchu yet? I swear nothing in this world will make you feel more connected or humbled. It's spectacular and beyond words. Good luck with your travels!! Keep your head up, the Spanish will come :)
Feel free to shoot me an email if you have any questions or if there's anything I can help with during your journey!!
I'll be following of course :)
Beatriz.

Loved reading this letter. Very well thought out!
What a gift to share this with us - it's lovely and it made me teary.
I too sit a long way away from my sister.. In fact I am probably as far away as you can get from Stockholm.. I'm in Sydney.. No wait, if I lived in Auckland New Zealand I'd probably add the last bit of distance before the world would bring us closer the other way.. :)
Anyway, I thought your letter was nice. Your sister is lucky.
Hope you find an English speaking girl to talk to soon, or at least a really great chocolate shop! xx
